Learning Reiki
Learning Reiki
is something anyone can do. But, can you can you teach yourself Reiki? Can
you learn Reiki on your own? Do you really need a Reiki Master to supervise
you? Many modern Reiki Masters believe that learning Reiki at home,
on your own, is possible with the help of books, e-books, and videos
prepared by Reiki Masters.
Remote
attunement - learning Reiki at a distance.
Traditionally, attunement ceremonies are carried out in person by
Reiki Masters. However, there are Reiki Masters who believe that they
can teach Reiki at a distance. They do not think that it is necessary for
them to be present physically in order to teach Reiki energy healing.
More importantly, they believe that the required attunements can be
performed at a distance using telephone, videotapes, and DVD's. This
belief, of course, follows from the more generally held belief that healings
can be done at a distance. Excellent

One individual who forcefully argues in favor
of remote attunements is
Steve
Murray. Steve Murray is a Usui Reiki Master,
Tibetan and Karuna Reiki Master. He has authored the well known book,

This book can be
used in conjunction with a series of videos and DVD's produced by Murray to
receive attunements and learn Reiki energy healing. According to Steve
Murray "some Reiki Masters believe they can only pass Reiki Attunements in
person... but I have passed many thousands of Reiki Attunements with my
programs to people around the world successfully." Murray claims that
his Reiki video and DVD attunements incorporate all of the most important
universal principles so that the learner can be assured that they will
receive the necessary attunements. In his words, "I use Tibetan, Usui and
Karuna Reiki symbols, as well as the long distance healing symbols, which
transcend time and space... With your mind open, combined with my very
powerful intent you will receive the Attunement. Again, your reality is in
the now. Everything is in the now. You will receive the Reiki Attunements in

Self Attunement
- Discovering your own power to heal.
Until
recently, Reiki attunements
have required the actions of a Reiki Master. Whether it was done in
person, or remotely, an attunement has required a Reiki Master to perform
the ritual gestures, symbols, and sounds.
However, there are some practitioners who believe that individuals can
not only learn Reiki energy healing techniques on their own, they can attune themselves
without the
intervention of an existing Master. The fact that Mikao Usui, founder of
modern Reiki, attuned himself to Reiki energy healing is taken as evidence
that a do-it-yourself kind of attunement is possible. One of the best
known programs for self-attunement is
Judith
and Chris Conroy's program for learning Reiki and becoming a Reiki Master.
