Massage Therapy Associations

Massage therapy associations are important to the professional life of massage therapists. Among other things, membership in a professional association often provides the liability insurance required in most locales.  Membership in massage therapy association also helps to assure clients about the quality of training and service that can be expected. Finally, the various massage therapy associations provide opportunities for continuing education through which practitioners can sharpen skills and learn the latest advances.

Because of the many benefits associated with membership, massage therapists are encouraged to join and actively support professional organizations and associations in their field. Listed below is a sampling of professional massage therapy associations. In addition to the types of associations listed below, professional massage therapists often belong to other organizations related to holistic health practices. For example, massage therapists often belong to Reflexology, Shiatsu, Reiki, and Therapeutic Touch associations.
