Massage Therapy in a Chair
M assage
therapy in a chair is an increasingly popular form of massage therapy.
Chair massage therapy has a shorter duration (approximately 15 minutes) than
more traditional forms of massage. In addition, while the best known
forms of massage require the client to undress, chair massages do not.
In chair massage
therapy, the client remains fully clothed and sits in a special, portable
massage therapy chair which allows the client to lean forward and cradle his
or her face in a headrest.
The therapist then
works on the back, arms, hands, and shoulders.
Because chair massage therapy is
carried out with the client fully clothed, it can be conducted in wide range
of locations. A specialized massage room or clinic is not necessary.
Instead, a portable massage therapy chair can be transported easily to where
the clients are.
Today, chair massages
are often conducted in malls, in sports complexes, and at large public
events.
Chair massage therapy also brings holistic health and healing to
on-the-job locations. A chair massage improves circulation, relaxes
back muscles, and provides employees with break from staring at a computer
screen.
